For those of you who have been emailing and posting about Leland Melvin, Richmond’s first spider in space, I have news! We are very excited to announce that Astronaut Leland Melvin will be on campus on Sunday, April 13. Leland plans to discuss his experience in space with a host of Richmond students, alumni, and community members. The event is open to the public. If you’re in town, stop by the Robins Center at 2:00 p.m. to hear Mr. Melvin speak about his recent journey into space.

Will he be returning to UR at a later date? I’d love to hear him speak but have prior plans.
Thanks.
I’m sure Leland will be back to speak at UR in the future – he’s visited campus several times over the last few years, and I’m certain he will be back more in the next few. We’ll try to keep you posted!
I didn’t even know about it. Please email a notice when he will be speaking on campus again. If it was videotaped, please email it to the alumni.
Susan,
That is a great suggestion. I will contact the Alumni Relations Office to determine if Leland’s presentation was recorded.
